Track Meet..and I got runners knees. What do I do?!?
Please please PLEASE don't ice right before running. It cools down your muscles and makes it much more likely that you'll pull a muscle. If it doesn't hurt crazy bad to run then I'd say do the meet then take it easy afterwards (unless you're a distance runner, in which case you might actually do some damage to yourself). Take ibuprofen or something afterwards to help with the pain and swelling, and ice whatever hurts AFTER you run. If the intense pain doesn't clear up in a couple weeks you might want to go to a doctor, though. I'm obviously not a doctor though, so take my advice as advice from another high-schooler--with caution! You don't wanna mess up your body this early in the season (too late for me :( sprained an ankle a month ago and it still hurts a little because I haven't given it time to heal properly). Good luck!! :)
