"Clue" themed halloween party (like the board game)?

So a couple friends and I are hosting a halloween party this year based on the board game "Clue." We have some ideas already, but have some gaps to fill in. Should we lead people from one place to the next, or just have random clues lying around for them to piece together? This will be for 35-40 people, and there will be 6 teams (Miss Scarlet, Professor Plum, etc.) Any ideas??
