Can someone help me with my ipod problem?

on my ipod when u click on a song it usually says like 1 0f 401 and the next will say 2 of 401 and so on down the list, but for some reason on my ipod every song i click says 1 of 401. idk y and i am trying to find a way to fix it. can anyone tell me the reason and how i can make it normal so the number of each song is shown and not all said to be 1 of 401 when it should really be like 300 of 401? thanks mucho!
