Does being taught Religion brainwash children to a certain extent?

I'm not trying to sound rude, but I find that kid's that kids who are taught religion in school are brainwashed to a certain extent. For example: In many Catholic school's creationism is ONLY taught while evolution isn't. I'd be fine with this if it was both, but isn't only giving one view kind of telling kids that this is what you have to believe and that's it, wouldn't you want your child to make there own choices? Gimme you thoughts.
